Terjärv Open has been played since 2003. All players participating in the tournament is required to have their roots in Terjärv.
As so many Terjärv resident picked up golf clubs and started swinging away, the idea first came to the veterans of Terjärv golf, Folke Gistö and Karl-Mikael Grahn. As the numbers of players increased, they put their ideas in to action and thus the Terjärv Open was born.
Terjärv Open was played as a one day event at Kokkola Golf Course, which also serves as the homeclub to most of the participants. The tournament was first played as a 9-hole event, until 2005, when the tournament was expanded to 18 holes. It is still played as an 18-hole event. In later years, the tournaments alternates between Kokkola Golf and Järviseudun Golf.
